In & Around Siggiewi

Location

Pjazza Suites Boutique Hotel is located in the picturesque village of Siggiewi on the Western part of the island, close to Mdina.

Siggiewi is ideal for an authentic stay in Malta as it is very close to important places of interest and off-the-beaten-track beaches. It will take you less than 20 minutes to reach Pjazza Suites from the Airport, and you will be staying within 12km from Valletta and Sliema.

The old city of Mdina and Rabat are just 6km away, whilst the Neolithic temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra can be reached in just 7min by car.

The Three Cities surrounding the Grand Harbour (Birgu, Senglea and Cospicua) are about 12km away and you can drive to the traditional fishermen village of Marsaxlokk in about 25min.

Beaches

Staying at Pjazza Suites also means that you will be able to reach some of the most beautiful bays and beaches on the island. We suggest Ghar Lapsi and Wied iz-Zurrieq (Blue Grotto), both about 4km away on the Western Coast. Do not forget to bring along your snorkelling gear as these beaches offer hours of underwater fun. Should you prefer a sandy beach to relax and enjoy the sun, then head North towards Golden Bay.

Hiking

Set on a hill, Siggiewi offers breathtaking hiking paths that take you from wind-carved cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean to unique eco-systems in a secluded sinkhole, from Baroque Basilicas to quaint chapels, from enjoying top-of-the-hill views to chasing dragonflies in the valley. We recommend visiting Laferla Cross (Salib ta’ l-Gholja), Fawwara, Buskett Gardens, Girgenti and Tal-Providenza to experience some of the untouched rural heritage of the island whilst enjoying the panorama.

Eating Out

The village of Siggiewi and the surroundings offer some quality, non-pretentious options for eating out. Let us know your preferences and we will suggest some good restaurants/wine-bars in the area.

Getting around

The village of Siggiewi is very well serviced with public transport and the closest bus terminus is just a few steps away. Should you wish to explore more and discover the authentic side of the island, then renting a car or a scooter would help you move around. Siggiewi also offers great rural roads for hiking and cycling, however guests are notified that cycling on main roads is not advisable.
